“I wanted to sow a sacrificial seed of a sum of five hundred thousand Naira in my Church and I planned towards it. During the particular week that I planned to sow it, I heard God clearly tell me to sow half of the sum instead. I immediately rebuked Satan, because it could not have been God telling me that, or could it?
The weekend came and I was yet to regain my peace, as I was still struggling with the idea of paying half of the sacrifice I had planned and determined to give. It was not until Sunday morning that I grudgingly wrote a check for two hundred and fifty thousand Naira and dropped it in Church. That day was a Communion Service and all went well.
As I drove back home from service, I noticed smoke emanating from under the hood of my car, a Honda Civic; this happened while I was on the Third Mainland Bridge of Lagos. Other road users noticed this and started to flag me down and to the glory of God, I parked successfully and safely at the side of the road.
Eventually, the vehicle was towed to the mechanic’s and the diagnosis was that the engine had burnt beyond repair. Now, the part that God was saving me from by giving me the instruction, showed up when the mechanic billed the cost of repairs as two hundred and fifty thousand Naira- the exact amount God had asked me to keep. God knew that I would need money to fix my car and while He was pleased with my desire to give to Him sacrificially, He demanded above all, that I obey Him. Wow! If I did not have that money at the time, it would have taken a while for me to be able to fix my car and the duration would have destabilized my early morning schedule to work and late-night return from work for a while.
God requires that we sow seeds because it is an essential principle of life and the Kingdom. However, the highest sacrifice that God requires that we give Him, is obedience. Obedience to God’s instruction is always for our own good.
