Copy Cat

The lessons in this narrative, are a combination of the danger of being a copycat and the power of leadership.

This story here, happened some weeks ago. I had just returned from picking my kids up from school and I gave lolipop to each of them. I asked the older one to pull off something she was putting on, so she stuck the stick end of the lolipop in her teeth, just to make it easier to remove the stuff. My younger child had been licking the right side of the lolipop, but as soon as he saw his sister, he thought her style was cool and pulled out the sweet end and did exactly what he saw his sister do- he stuck the stick end in his teeth. He felt cool about it, but really, who was enjoying all the while? Was it not the one who had been licking the sweet?

Many times, what we follow as trend, is born out of a deeper reason to the source, but those who follow just because it’s trendy without asking questions, are not wise.

We have to be careful who we copy, since we don’t know why they do what they do. Weigh every result against values. If the results are appealing but the values are not, you must remember that the how is as important as the what.

Have a genuine reason for doing things the way you do them.
